Breast Reduction

Enlarged breasts, both male and female, can be the cause of multiple issues, from back pain to poor confidence. As a large portion of breast tissue is composed of fat, we are able to perform breast reduction through VASER Liposuction.

VASER vs Traditional Liposuction

VASER combines traditional liposuction technology with ultrasound energy to improve your results, reduce downtime, and improve skin quality. At the treatment site, a cannula is inserted below the skin into the fat layer. This cannula is a long, blunt, hollow tube which is used to remove the cat cells. VASER Liposuction differs from traditional liposuction in that the cannula conducts Ultrasound energy, which passes through the fat to gently break down the fat cell membranes. This will allow them to be more easily removed via gentle suction with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue. The ultrasound energy offers an added benefit of skin tightening. One of the greatest concerns following traditional liposuction is skin laxity, ie. sagging. This concept is similar to those who have undergone significant weight loss – accumulated fat in a particular area will cause a stretching of the skin. Once that excess fat is reduced or removed, the stretched skin will then sag. The ultrasound energy used during VASER Liposuction has a tightening effect on the surrounding tissue, providing a bonus skin contraction and reducing the chances of sagging skin post-procedure.

Is VASER® Lipo Right
For Me?

VASER is ideal for healthy patients who are seeking to reduce localised fat in the breast area, which has proven resistant to diet and exercise. VASER offers an effective, and low-downtime surgical solution for this need.

What Can I Expect During
VASER Procedure?

Initially, small incisions are made in the natural skin folds or creases in the treated area. Then a tumescent fluid containing a special numbing saline solution is injected into the targeted area. This numbs the region, and shrinks the blood vessels in order to minimise blood loss and reduce bruising. The fluid also expands the volume of the targeted area, which allows the VASER greater efficacy and ease of removal of fat. Next, a small VASER probe which resonates at a high ultrasound frequency is passed into the target area through the incision site. The liquefied fat is then removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimise damage to the surrounding tissues.

What Are The Risks?

Bruising and pain at the treatment site is often the biggest concern. Patients may find they are swollen and tender for several weeks after their procedure. As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of scarring, which can be reduced by carefully adhering to post-operative instructions including appropriate topical skincare, massage, and dressings. It should also be noted that liposuction results can only be maintained with a healthy diet, lifestyle and exercise routine. Liposuction procedures permanently remove fat cells from specific areas, and while these lost cells do not grow back, the fat cells remaining in those areas can still grow and shrink as normal. Therefore, weight gain can reverse liposuction results to a degree. Another consideration is skin laxity. While VASER does offer simultaneous skin tightening, if the amount of fat removed from the treatment area is significant enough, ultrasound energy may be insufficient in completely tightening the skin. Therefore, surgical removal of excess skin may be recommended by your surgeon following your liposuction procedure.
