Thighplasty

A normal, common sign of ageing is the formation of excess skin on the thighs. This can make many individuals highly self-conscious, especially when they see themselves in photos, and can impact everyday lifestyle factors like the selection of clothing to wear. A thigh lift is a surgical procedure to remove this excess skin and leaves the upper legs smoother, tighter, and more youthful.

How Does Thigh
Lift Surgery Work?

Due to ageing and gravity, or following on from weight loss, the skin in the thigh region is stretched significantly. After being stretched for a prolonged period, similar to a stretched-out rubber band, the skin cannot retract to its former tightness and elasticity – even after excess weight has been shed. The only way to address significantly loose skin is therefore a surgical approach, removing the excess skin and closing the incision with sutures so that when the remaining tissue heals, it is taught and flat.

How Do I Prepare For
Thigh Lift Surgery?

You should be in good physical health prior to surgery, as well as at your ideal weight – as weight gain or loss will impact the area to be operated on. Thorough physical and psychological evaluation will be conducted prior to any surgical procedures. Your surgeon will advise you regarding any medications that need to be ceased, including herbal supplements such as ginkgo and St John’s Wort. You will be required not to smoke or vape for several weeks prior to your procedure. You may be given antibiotics prior to surgery. We recommend preparing an appropriate recovery room at home including bedding, ice packs and a thermometer, and a loved one should stay with you for 24 hours. You will be given compression garments to wear and must avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting. You should expect your torso to be sore, swollen and bruised for around 2 weeks following your surgery.

What Are The Risks
Of Thigh Lift Surgery?

In line with all surgical procedures, risks include potential wound infection, pain around the incision sites, and scarring. Other risks include:
