Ultherapy

As we age, our natural collagen and elastin stores deplete, skin becomes lax, and facial muscles elongate. This causes sagging, drooping, jowling, and an overall downward drop in facial features. Ultherapy utilises ultrasound energy to powerfully restore facial volume and tighten the underlying muscle layer to reverse this drooping effect and provide non-invasive, non-surgical method of facial lifting.

How Does It Work?

Penetrating deeply into the tissue, ultrasound energy is emitted into the dermis and beyond to the SMAS muscle layer. This is the same layer that is targeted during a surgical deep plane facelift. This creates a significant thermal effect, causing an instant contracting of muscle and collagen fibres, which not only tightens but also stimulates the production of new collagen. This non-surgical facelift alternative passes through the skin’s surface, creating significant heat in the deeper layers but no damage on the surface. Ultherapy is recognised as Australia’s leading and most effective ultrasound skin tightening technology, and is used in the following areas:

Is Ultherapy Safe?

Unlike laser, IPL, radiofrequency, surgery, and other aesthetic techniques, Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and the right temperature. This very precise delivery of energy means that Ultherapy is an extremely effective treatment, with significantly reduced risk compared with other treatments. Ultrasound has been used throughout the medical field for more than 50 years, and Ultherapy technology has been established as effective in over a million treatments worldwide.

What Can I Expect During The Treatment?

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, our Ultherapy specialist will apply the ultrasound gel and place the treatment applicator against your skin. Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered. Some patients describe the sensation as a momentary pricking of heat beneath the skin. Oral paracetamol can be taken prior to reduce discomfort. The length of the treatment will depend on the area being targeted, but typically a face and neck Ultherapy procedure typically lasts 60-90 minutes, while a chest tightening procedure generally takes approximately 30 minutes

Is There Downtime?

Ultherapy is a no-downtime procedure, and you are able to resume normal activities right away with minimal side effects. The skin may appear slightly flushed or swollen immediately after the procedure, but any redness should disappear in a matter of hours. Some patients do not show any visible signs whatsoever. Generally the area will feel slightly sore to the touch, with a sensation similar to a bruise – though the skin itself will not appear bruised. The treatment zone may remain a little tender to the touch for 7-10 days post-treatment. Ultherapy provides gradual results over a period of 2-3 months, so you may not notice any difference right away
