How Do Mono Threads Work?
PDO (Polydioxanone) Mono Threads are thin, dissolvable sutures which are placed below the skin’s surface. Many small, hollow needles containing the threads are inserted into the dermis, where the threads are deposited so that they can work their magic. Once these threads are detected by the body, the collagen-production cascade is initiated, and new collagen fibres are formed around the threads. These mono threads slowly dissolve over a period of 3-4 months, leaving nothing but newly-formed collagen structures and thicker, stronger, tighter, more resilient skin.
Is The Procedure Painful?
PDO Mono Threads require many threads to be inserted into the area, which means many injection sites. There therefore may be some discomfort depending on the size and location of the treatment area. This discomfort is reduced through the application of a topical numbing agent prior to treatment.
Is There Downtime?
When Will I See Results?
The primary outcome of threads is collagen formation, and this process takes several months. This means that skin tightening can be seen after 2-3 months. The results are also cumulative – several treatments are generally recommended, so your complete results should be seen at least 3 months following your final treatment.
