Skinnotion is proud to offer PicoSure laser treatments, one of the world’s leading pico lasers for skin rejuvenation. PicoSure’s market-leading technology combines multiple laser wavelengths, including 532nm, 755nm, and 1064nm. Our experienced Skinnotion nurses utilise these various wavelengths to treat multiple skin concerns and conditions, including acne scar treatment, removal of pigmented lesions, and advanced reduction of skin ageing such as lines and wrinkles.
How does PicoSure Work?
PicoSure delivers a targeted photomechanical response to the skin. This has positive impacts on a number of skin concerns. Pigment is broken up into tiny fragments, allowing the body to eliminate them safely. The thermal effect also stimulates the production of elastin and collagen fibres, reducing wrinkles by reintroducing plumpness and volume to the dermis that has been lost over time. The result is smoother, brighter, younger and more even-looking skin. With multiple wavelengths and spot sizes, your PicoSure treatments will be customised to your specific needs.
PicoSure vs Traditional
Laser Treatments
PicoSure laser enables non-surgical, non-invasive skin treatment with less discomfort and downtime of traditional laser skin treatments. Traditional lasers can produce intense heat in the tissue, which can induce significant skin redness and downtime. PicoSure combats this by delivering laser energy differently to other modalities. Picosecond laser energy is delivered in powerful, ultra-short pulses, which effectively shatters pigmentation like tattoos and sun damage without the heat lingering, minimising damage to the surrounding tissue.
Can Picosure Be Used To Treat Pigmentation and Melasma?
Picosure laser is extremely effective in the treatment of pigmentation, including
melasma. Melasma can be a stubborn and difficult condition to treat, and some laser
treatments can actually worsen the pigmentation. This is because melasma is highly
reactive to heat. Therefore, approaching melasma with a Picosecond laser is
considered the safest option. Utilising the 755nm wavelength, PicoSure delivers its
photomechanical response to pigmentation in one trillionth of a second, shattering
clusters of pigment while incurring minimal heat and reducing the risk of further
pigmentation from forming.
Is Picosure Effective For Acne
and Scar Treatment?
In addition to pigmentation and ageing, PicoSure can also be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars. The powerful laser energy stimulates the body’s healing
processes to remodel scar tissue and smooth the skin’s texture through collagen induction. This includes acne scarring and trauma-induced scars on the face and body.
What Can I Expect During
PicoSure Acne Scar Removal?
Most treatment sessions last around 30 minutes. Depending on your skin type, multiple sessions may be required to achieve noticeable, lasting results. PicoSure laser is not considered painful, but topical anaesthetic cream can be administered to reduce discomfort if you choose. Typically you will experience a warm, flicking or snapping sensation as the laser energy is dispersed into the skin.
What Is The Downtime After
PicoSure Treatment?
Compared to traditional non-ablative resurfacing lasers for the treatment of freckles, brown spots, fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture and clarity, PicoSure is less painful during the treatment and has less associated downtime. Generally, the skin will feel slightly warm and appear pink or red for several hours following your treatment, which usually dissipates by the next day. You may resume your normal activities right away, ensuring gentle skin products and no intensive exercise for the following 24 hours. It is crucial to apply sun protection, avoid exfoliating agents, and keep skin well hydrated in the 5-7 days following treatment.
