Healite II

LED light therapy is an extremely effective, scientifically-proven method of skin healing and rejuvenation. Backed by decades of peer-reviewed studies, LED had long been used for the healing and repair of sports injuries and surgeries. Now, it is widely regarded for these same benefits when used on the face, improving skin hydration, boosting cellular energy, and promoting anti-ageing outcomes.

How Does LED Light Therapy Work?

LED light offers a range of benefits, depending on the wavelength of light used. This is because different wavelengths have different actions on, and in, the body. In the context of skin rejuvenation, several different wavelengths of light can be used to produce different effects.

Is There A Difference Between LED Devices?

Yes! There are huge differences between devices. This includes the wavelength/s of light used, which achieve different things. But more importantly, the power output and the fluence matter when it comes to LED. Simply put, if the amount, strength, and quality of LED light diffused into the skin is not sufficient, no significant results can be achieved. At Skinnotion, we use Healite II as our LED device of choice. Healite II is recognised globally as the market leading LED in cosmetics and healthcare, offering incomparable strength and quality LED. In terms of wavelengths, blue LED and near-infrared LED are available.

What Does Blue LED light Do?

Blue LED is the wavelength of choice when treating acne and breakouts. This is because this wavelength of light has been demonstrated to successfully destroy acne-causing bacteria on the skin, with the addition of a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

What Does Near-Infrared LED Do?

Infrared and near-infrared light is the wavelength most widely studied in its use on skin health and injury repair. This wavelength of light energy is absorbed into the mitochondria of the cells in the treated area. This is the powerhouse component of a cell, responsible for producing ATP. Skin cells are then energised and cellular function and turnover is optimised. At the same time, collagen and hydrating factors are stimulated, and nutrient-rich blood is encouraged to the tissue. The final benefit is a reduction in inflammatory cells, making LED treatments such an excellent option for inflamed skin, injured or sensitised skin, or following surgical or non-surgical treatments
