How Does Scar Subcision Work?
Scar Subcision utilises a needle or cannula that is inserted directly under the scar in order to break up the fibrous scar tissue, which tethers the surface skin to the deeper layers below causing that ‘dimpling’ effect.
What Type Of Scars Are
Suited To Subcision?
There are several different types of scars, each displaying distinct characteristics on the skin’s surface. These include boxcar scars, icepick scars, and rolling scars. Subcision is used on depressed and icepick scars, which are usually large and deep, and tethered downwards by fibrous septae. Subcision is used to break apart this tissue so that it can appear flatter and more even on the surface.
Is It Painful?
Local anaesthetic is injected throughout the treatment zone to numb the skin and ensure you are comfortable throughout. You may experience several days of soreness and tenderness for several days following the procedure, which may last slightly longer if bruising occurs.
