Dermamelan

A serious skin peel designed especially for pigmentation, Dermamelan® is a medical depigmenting method that efficiently and progressively eliminates spots by reducing pigment buildup and by working on the root cause, providing a comprehensive and long-lasting solution. Most commonly used just for the face, Dermamelan can also be used for pigmentation treatment on the body. Treatment of pigmentation on the chest is a common request, as this area is significantly prone to sun exposure. Pigmentation on the chest can also appear more dramatic when pigmentation on the face and neck is treated but the chest remains untouched.

How Does Dermamelan work?

This intensive treatment involves a two-phased approach – an in-clinic peel, and a stringent homecare regime. Both the in-clinic peel and the homecare products contain a range of high-grade, targeted ingredients to reduce pigmentation and prevent its recurrence. These pigment inhibiting ingredients include Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, Titanium Dioxide and Retinyl Palmitate. Just one in-clinic peel using Dermamelan can significantly reduce pigmentation and create a much more even complexion. However, a series of Dermamelan homecare products must be applied daily for several months following the in-clinic peel. This, in addition to daily sun protection, is the part of the process which prevents the pigmentation from recurring.

What Happens If I Don’t Use
The Homecare Products?

The Dermamelan homecare regime is just as important as the clinical peel, as this is the phase which prevents the pigmentation; which was reduced by the peel, from coming back. Therefore, if Dermamelan homecare products are not applied consistently as per instructions, the Dermamelan will not be as effective and pigment may return.

Will I Need More Than
One Treatment?

This will depend on your skin type and the amount and depth of your pigment. Your predisposition for pigmentation, as well as other factors which influence pigmentary changes like lifestyle, hormones and medication, will also contribute towards the number of treatments required. Significant reduction in pigmentation can be seen with just one Dermamelan treatment, but sometimes a course is recommended for severe cases. After a successful outcome is achieved, many patients opt for one annual Dermamelan treatment per year to maintain their results.

Is It Painful? What Can I
Expect?

After your Dermamelan peel, your skin will generally feel warm or hot, red, and a little sensitive. This will remain for 1-3 days depending on your skin type, thickness, and resilience. You may notice some skin sensitivity and shedding/flaking during the 1-2 week phase post-treatment. Your Dermamelan homecare is designed to hydrate, nourish, and care for your skin post-peel.
