PicoSure

Laser pigmentation treatments are not just reserved for the face! Many areas of the body are prone to pigmentation, and this includes genitalia. Both male and female intimate regions experience pigmentation spots or patches, which can make many individuals feel extremely self-conscious and have lasting impacts on romantic interactions. Skinnotion is proud to offer PicoSure laser treatments for the effective removal of intimate pigmentation. PicoSure is the world’s gold standard laser for pigment, with market-leading technology that combines multiple laser wavelengths, including 532nm, 755nm, and 1064nm.

How Does PicoSure Work?

PicoSure delivers a targeted photomechanical response to the skin. Pigmentation, including freckles, age spots and melasma, is broken up into tiny fragments which allows for the body to eliminate it safely. Not all pigmentation is the same, and needs to be approached in an individualised way. With multiple wavelengths and spot sizes, your PicoSure treatments will be customised to your specific needs.

PicoSure vs Traditional
Laser Treatments

PicoSure laser enables non-surgical, non-invasive skin treatment with less discomfort and downtime of traditional laser skin treatments. Traditional lasers can produce intense heat in the tissue, which not only increases downtime and discomfort, but increases the chances of stimulating more pigment as a result. PicoSure combats this by delivering laser energy differently to other modalities. Picosecond laser energy is delivered in powerful, ultra-short pulses, which effectively shatters pigmentation like tattoos and sun damage without the heat lingering, minimising damage to the surrounding tissue.

What Can I Expect During PicoSure Pigmentation Treatments?

Most treatment sessions last around 20-30 minutes, but this will of course be determined by the size of the treatment area. Depending on your skin type and the severity and depth of your pigmentation, multiple sessions may be required to achieve noticeable, lasting results. PicoSure laser is not considered painful, but topical anaesthetic cream can be administered to reduce discomfort if you choose. Typically you will experience a warm, flicking or snapping sensation as the laser energy is dispersed into the skin.

What Is The Downtime
After PicoSure?

Compared to traditional non-ablative resurfacing lasers for pigmentation, PicoSure is less painful during the treatment and has less associated downtime. Generally, the skin will feel slightly warm and appear pink or red for several hours following your treatment, which usually dissipates by the next day. When pigment absorbs photoenergy, it often changes colour. After PicoSure, your pigmentation may appear darker, sometimes grey or black-brown. This will happen right away, and will usually continue to darken over the coming days. Over the next 1-2 weeks, some of the pigment will be pushed up to the surface of the skin and eventually flake off. It is important to avoid picking or scrubbing during this time. You may resume your normal activities straight after treatment, ensuring gentle skin products and no intensive exercise for the following 24 hours. It is absolutely crucial to keep the skin away from sunlight, to keep it hydrated, and to avoid exfoliating agents for 5-7 days following treatment.
