Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injectable treatments offer a non-surgical solution to hair transplant surgery or hair growth medications, utilising the power of our body’s growth factors to address hair loss, hair thinning, or male or female pattern baldness
How Do PRP Injections Work?
PRP treatments harness the plasma component of the patient’s own blood, which contains a high volume of platelets. These platelets play a key role in the body’s healing abilities and growth functions. PRP is supported by years of scientific research demonstrating its ability to significantly reduce inflammation and optimise cellular proliferation, encouraging growth of hair in regions where this function is impaired. PRP has shown promising results in a variety of hair loss indications, boosting not only the quality, thickness and viability of existing hair strands, but also in boosting the number of hair follicles produced in areas of depletion.
Who Should Have Platelet
Rich Plasma Therapy?
PRP is well suited for most individuals experiencing hair loss or thinning. While it cannot restore complete loss of hair, it can be used to improve hair growth at the early stages of generalised thinning, hairline receding, or some cases of androgenic alopecia.

What Can I Expect
Afterwards?
You may be mildly sensitive around the injection sites for several hours. As with any injectable treatment, there is always a risk of bruising and swelling. PRP Therapy results can sometimes be visible after roughly six weeks in highly effective cases, as the natural inflammation phase subsides and cell growth is initiated. Growth factors, hydration and improved cellular proliferation over time leads to gradual improvements, so you may not notice an improvement in your hair growth until 6-12 weeks after your sessions are complete.
Are There Risks Associated
With PRP?
As the treatment utilises the patient’s own blood, without the use of any additional products not already found in the body, there is an extremely low chance of intolerance or rejection. Bruising and swelling at the injection sites is one of the primary risks, which can occur in any individual irrespective of the injector’s skill or experience. There is also risk of unmet expectations, as PRP hair growth results can vary dramatically between individuals. Many individuals have experienced incredible results after PRP hair restoration, but these results cannot be guaranteed for everyone. PRP should be considered by those who have not found success through other therapies and wish to try non-surgical alternatives, or as an adjunct alongside additional treatments or medications.
