What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a neurological disorder in which sweat glands are overactive, causing excessive sweating. This can occur throughout the entire body, or in isolated areas such as the hands, feet, underarms, or groin. This can have severe impacts on quality of life, causing distress and self-consciousness in hyperhidrosis sufferers. Excessive sweating can be worsened further in stressful situations or in response to heat, alcohol, exercise, and spicy food

How Does MiraDry
Work?

MiraDry works directly on the sweat glands in the underarm region. Microwave energy is delivered deep into the tissue where the sweat glands lie. The energy causes them to be heated to such a point that the sweat glands are damaged.

How Long Do MiraDry Results Last?

MiraDry is designed to provide permanent destruction of underarm sweat glands. In most cases, one session alone will not cause sufficient destruction to cause permanent immobilisation of sweat glands, and two sessions are recommended for this reason.

Is MiraDry right For Me?

MiraDry treatment is suitable for anyone who wants to eliminate his or her underarm wetness and/or odour. You are a great candidate for MiraDry treatments if:

  • You suffer from excessive underarm sweating and excessive armpit Odour
  • You have tried many other treatment options with no positive outcomes
  • You need to change your clothes throughout the day due to excessive wetness under your arms
  • Antiperspirants don't work for you
  • You have tried anti-wrinkle injections and want a longer-lasting outcome

What Are The Risks?

There are minimal risks associated with MiraDry. These include temporary swelling, nodules, or loss of sensation in the treated area. There is a small risk of prolonged loss of sensation due to nerve damage in the armpits, but this is extremely rare.

What Can I Expect During
MiraDry Treatment?

After thoroughly cleaning the treatment zone, you will receive numbing to the area, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. We will then place the miraDry handpiece onto the skin mark up the area, so that precise placement of the handpiece and delivery of the energy can be applied. The handpiece is stamped across the skin while the energy is delivered into the tissue. You may feel some warmth but thanks to the numbing you will not feel any pain.

What Can I Expect After MiraDry Treatment?

While you can resume your daily activities after MiraDry, we do recommend scheduling in some time at home the day of your session. As the numbing wears off 1-2 hours after your MiraDry, you will likely experience some discomfort. The treatment areas will feel very hot and swollen, and while they will appear normal, many patients describe the feeling of lumps under the skin. This sensation is perfectly normal but can last up to several days. The tissue in the treatment zones will continue to heal over the next 2-3 months, during which you may feel some nodules. Gentle massage is therefore recommended daily for the first few weeks following MiraDry.
  • Duration : 1.5 hours
  • Downtime : Most patients return to regular activity/work immediately. Swelling, bumps, darkening of the skin, numbness, bruising and sensitivity is expected and mostly resolves within 2 weeks. Some of these symptoms may linger for weeks or months after treatment.
  • Aftercare : Ice pack 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Be sure to wrap with some paper towel as placing them directly on the skin may cause frostbite. Avoid using antiperspirant/deodorant for 2 weeks
  • Frequency : One off treatment for 82% permanent sweat and odour reduction.Less than 10 percent of patients may not respond to initial treatment and may require a second treatment at a discounted cost. The second treatment can be performed 3 months after the first.
